John Terry has claimed that other nations are beginning to fear England again since their resurgence under manager Fabio Capello.
The England captain, who will lead his team out on his 50th international appearance against Slovakia in a friendly tomorrow, believes the team are now a force to be reckoned with in world football.
"We're going in the right direction to make England great again," he said.
"We're back on top and playing good football. The fans are believing in us again, they're on our side and we've always said they're the best in the world.
"Other teams are fearing us now."
Terry's claims come despite England's last outing ending in a comprehensive 2-0 loss to world number one side Spain last month.
But the Chelsea skipper described the match in Seville as "an eye-opener" and said the team would learn lessons from the defeat.
"It was a shock against Spain in the last game," he continued.
"Spain are one of the best teams in the world and we've learned an awful lot from that. At times it was difficult to get close to them.
"There was a time that perhaps we would've resorted to kicking lumps out of them, but we've matured as a team.
"Now we know it's about keeping a cool head."
After the friendly against the Slovaks at Wembley, England take on Ukraine in their fifth World Cup qualifier of the current campaign - looking to continue their 100 per cent record so far.
