Legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar has regained his place in the Indian one-day squad after recovering from shoulder surgery that kept him sidelined for five months.
The talismanic right-hander missed the recent disappointing tour of the West Indies which saw Greg Chappell's team comprehensively beaten 4-1.
Tendulkar has spent the early part of this summer proving his fitness through a series of non-competitive outings for the invitational side Lashings and an appearance for an international XI against Pakistan.
Indian chairman of selectors Kiran More didn't hesitate over the inclusion of the record century-maker for August's triangular series.
"Sachin was sure to be in the team once he was cleared. You can't have doubts about such a great player," he said.
Leicestershire's Dinesh Mongia was a more surprising fixture in the side, returning after a 15 month absence to supplement the spin attack as much as bolster the middle order.
Robin Uthappa and Venugopal Rao were the players sacrificed in the wake of the Caribbean trip, but the selectors resisted calls for more sweeping changes in personnel.
The tournament will pit Rahul Dravid's men against Sri Lanka and South Africa with each team meeting twice before the top two advance to a final showdown.
India's campaign begins against the hosts in Colombo on August 10th.
