An 18-year-old man has been killed and a 27-year-old man seriously injured in a double shooting incident in Paisley.
Both men were shot by a single assailant outside Monty's Snooker Club in Stock Street at 22:20 BST last night, Strathclyde police said.
They were taken to nearby Royal Alexandra hospital but the younger man died from his injuries.
The 27-year-old is being treated for gunshot wounds and hospital workers describe his condition as "serious".
"Enquiries are at an early stage and officers are currently carrying out door to door enquiries and studying CCTV footage in an effort to glean further information on this incident," said Strathclyde police's Detective Superintendent Bob Law.
"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Stock Street around the time of the shooting last night and witnessed anything suspicious, or anyone with any information that may assist police enquiries to contact Paisley police office on 0141 532 1003," DS Law added.
"Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained."
