The future of England under-21 manager Peter Taylor is still unclear despite a meeting with new England boss Steve McClaren.
The Crystal Palace manager, who has occupied the role since 2004 and is in his second spell in charge of the under-21s, met with McClaren to map out his future role in the England set-up.
However, no decision was made, something which Taylor insists he is happy with.
"My situation is open-ended at the moment and that's not a problem for me," Taylor said.
"I thoroughly enjoy working with the under-21s and if the job is available on a match-to-match basis then I'm happy with that. But I don't think there's a long-term guarantee that I'll be doing it all the time."
Taylor is due to take charge of the side's opening European Championship qualifier against Moldova on August 15th.
McClaren will formally name his complete backroom staff next week, although he did confirm today that goalkeeping coach Ray Clemence will retain the role he has occupied since 1996.
The former Middlesbrough boss, however, praised Taylor's work with the under-21s squad and described his meeting with him as useful.
"It was really good to sit down with Peter and talk through how the senior and under-21s teams run alongside each other," McClaren said.
"He has a wealth of experience at that level and we had a very useful meeting."
The under-21s are hoping to qualify for the European Championship to be held in the Netherlands next summer.
