Nigeria's 3-0 defeat of Mozambique, coupled with Egypt's 2-0 victory over Benin, ensured the Super Eagles progressed to the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations alongside the holders.
A strike from outside the area by Peter Odemwingie right on the stroke of half-time gave Nigeria a vital lead against the minnows.
The winger doubled his side's advantage two minutes into the second period before striker Obafemi Martins sealed the win - and a place in the next round - with five minutes left.
In the day's other group C fixture, defender Ahmed Al-Muhammadi gave Egypt an early advantage over Benin before Emad Moteab grabbed a deserved second after 23 minutes.
The game petered out somewhat in the second half with both sides certain of their fates, ensuring Egypt go through as group winners and Mozambique finished bottom of the four-team table.
