Samantha Stosur claimed her first WTA tour title by beating Italy's Francesca Schiavone 7-5 6-1 in the final of the Japan Open.
It was a case of sixth-time lucky for Australian Stosur as she had lost all five of her previous tour finals.
Schiavone also has a poor record when it comes to the business end of tournaments, having lost nine of the last ten matches she has played in finals.
The only break of the first set came in its final game and when Stosur repeated the trick in game four of the next set she ran away with the match.
Stosur is currently ranked number 14 in the ladies' game and reached the semi-finals of the French Open earlier this year.
