England captain Andrew Strauss was left to rue the luck of the toss as his team lost to New Zealand on a brute of a wicket at The Wanderers.
"We had the advantage of playing Sri Lanka on it and bowling first, but that's [the coin toss] just the way it goes," he said.
England were skittled out for just 146 on a pitch that was full of inconsistent bounce, and provided a lot of assistance for the New Zealand bowlers.
"I don't think it's a great wicket for one-day cricket, to be honest," added Strauss.
"I think you would like a wicket that is a bit more consistent to play a one-day international."
But Strauss admitted that, as England will play their semi-final match of the Champions Trophy at Centurion Park, that the result this evening was not important:
"I don't think we need to read to much into this game because conditions are completely different at Centurion."
