Tottenham came back from 2-0 down to claim a precious 3-2 win over Aalborg in the Uefa Cup this evening.
Goals from Kasper Risgaard and Tomas Enevoldsen had given Aalborg a deserved lead at White Hart Lane. But three goals from Dimitar Berbatov, Steed Malbranque, and Darren Bent in the second-half won Spurs the game.
Spurs started slowly and were punished after just two minutes when Endvoldsen scored with a 22-yard strike. They doubled their lead when Bisgaard bundled the ball in from close range.
A furious looking Juande Ramos marched down to the dressing room at half-time and whatever he said at the break worked as his team came out revitalised.
The Spaniard brought on midfielder Tom Huddlestone and Darren Bent to create a three man strike team.
And it was Huddlestone who played the through ball for Berbatov to score and bring Spurs back into the game just a minute into the second-half.
The Londoners grew in confidence and bombed forward and five minutes later they were on level terms. The exciting Aaron Lennon skipped past a couple of players on the right wing and his ball into the penalty area fell to Malbranque who thumped the ball into the roof of the net.
Despite looking good forward, Tottenham still looked extremely shaking at the back and they were lucky not go behind again. Enevoldsen managed to find space outside the Tottenham penalty area and his shot on goal just went wide.
Ramos took a huge gamble replacing Young-Pyo Lee with Huddlestone and going with three at the back. But they managed to hang on and completed a remarkable comeback after 65 minutes.
Aalborg goalkeeper Allan Olesen only managed to parry a Gareth Bale free-kick which fell to Lennon whose shot was tapped in by Bent.
Tottenham surprisingly decided to sit on their lead as Ramos took off Berbatov and brought on Kevin Prince-Boateng with 20 minutes left on the clock. But Aalborg weren't the force they were in the first-half and Tottenham held on for a crucial win.
