Britain's Andy Murray has been knocked out of the Dubai Championships in the second round by Serbia's Janko Tipsarevic, 7-6 4-6 6-4.
The second seed looked rusty on his return to the ATP Tour for the first time in a month following his run to the Australian Open final.
And Tipsarevic took advantage, claiming the first set on a tiebreak after a few competitive exchanges.
The second set saw Murray show flashes of his brilliance and an early break of serve was enough to see him level things up at one set all.
However, all was not well in the Scot's camp and he succumbed to an early Tipsarevic break to trail 3-0. A second break soon afterwards appeared to hand the match to the Serb and so it proved, despite a brief riposte from Murray.
The world number three saved a match point before clawing back a break in the ninth game, but he was unable to capitalise as Tipsarevic served out for a deserved win.
