Great Britain's first tie in the Davis Cup since being relegated at the weekend will come against Lithuania in March, it has been announced.
The GB team led by Andy Murray suffered a 3-2 defeat to Poland in Liverpool at the weekend, which consigned them to the third tier of the competition for the first time since a two-year spell in the mid 1990s and only the second time ever.
Ahead of the tie in March, the home country will be decided by drawing lots because the two nations have never faced each other before.
Should Great Britain be drawn away, it appears that Murray will not feature after he hinted he may opt out of future Davis Cup ties.
GB's captain John Lloyd thinks that, following relegation, it is time for other players to step up.
Lloyd said: "Playing in Group Two will give some of our younger players the opportunity to perform on the international stage and gain valuable experience at that level."
The tie will take place over the weekend of March 5th-7th, with the winners facing either Ireland or Turkey - and the losers condemned to a relegation play-off to avoid dropping into Group Three.
