Britain's poor Davis Cup form has provoked former captain David Lloyd into calling for the resignation of Lawn Tennis Association chief Roger Draper.

The UK's Davis Cup side, captained by John Lloyd, fell to a 3-2 defeat against Lithuania on Sunday and could slip into the bottom tier of the international tournament should they lose in a relegation play-off against Turkey in July.

"Where are the male players that the LTA has actually produced?" David Lloyd asked after the latest defeat. "Zero. That's the bottom line," he said.

"How do you keep your job if you are failing? I think Roger should walk. I don't see it getting better."

Though world number four Andy Murray claimed two singles victories for Britain in their September loss to Poland, he missed the Lithuania tie to train for the upcoming Grand Slam season.

While the Scot moved to Spain as a teenager to train outside of the LTA, David Lloyd claims he should still have been encouraged to compete in the recent Davis Cup clash.

"Murray didn't come from the system his mother was brave enough to take him out of it," said Lloyd.

"Roger is wrong endorsing the fact that Andy shouldn't have played. That was a bad call.

"I would try and encourage him to play and give something back to the game.

"I would ask him to play against Turkey. We want him to help our young kids. We all owe something to the game."
