Ospreys discipline Henson with two-game ban

Wales and Ospreys centre Gavin Henson given two-match club ban
Wales and Ospreys centre Gavin Henson has been given a two-match suspension by his club for "rugby-related internal disciplinary" reasons.

The 26-year-old has been dropped for his side's opening match in this season's Heineken Cup against Leicester Tigers, which takes place at Welford Road on Sunday.

And Henson will also miss Ospreys' second game of the competition at home to Perpignan next weekend.

A brief statement from the club reads: "Gavin Henson is excluded from the next two Ospreys fixtures as the result of a rugby-related internal disciplinary decision."

An Ospreys spokesperson told inthenews.co.uk the club would not be commenting further on the issue.

Henson has figured in the Ospreys midfield in the last two games since returning from an ankle injury earlier this season.

And his absence is a further blow to the region following the withdrawal of Sonny Parker from the squad due to pectoral muscle injury that will keep him out for four weeks.

It leaves Andrew Bishop and Tommy Bowe to fill in at 12 and 13, respectively.
