An inspired display by Lee Briers and a Chris Hicks hat-trick helped Warrington Wolves to retain the Challenge Cup with a demolition of Leeds Rhinos.

Ryan Atkins added two tries to Hicks' tally and Louis Anderson crossed late on to wrap up a comprehensive 30-6 win in front of a bumper 85,217 crowd at Wembley.

Veteran half-back Briers' kicking was vital to the Wolves' success and he picked up the Lance Todd Trophy for his man-of-the-match performance.

Speaking after the victory, the Welshman was delighted to have won the individual honour but was also keen to praise the contribution of his team-mates.

"It is something I will probably look back on when I am finished and it will go down in history," he said.

"That is really good but the main thing is that I have just won the Challenge Cup with a bunch of really special guys."

Leeds will need to bounce back quickly as they travel to Hull FC for a key Super League clash on Saturday, while Warrington take on Harlequins at the Stoop on Friday.
