The London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG) has revealed the 8,000-mile route that the Olympic torch will take before the start of the games next year.
Passing through over 1,000 towns, cities and villages between 18th May and 27th July, the flame will go within ten miles of 95 per cent of the UK's population.
On its trip, the torch will also travel by some unusual modes of transport, including horseback, steam train and zip wire. Starting at Land's End, the Games' symbol will pass through every county of England and every local authority in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.
LOCOG chairman Lord Sebastian Coe said that he was delighted that the torch will visit so many places, stopping at some iconic landmarks along the way.
"Now everyone is invited to plan their welcome and find out where they can go to be part of this historic occasion," he added.
Leading artists from Britain recently revealed 12 posters that will become part of the marketing drive for the 2012 Games.
