Chris Thorman's drop goal saw Huddersfield take the derby spoils
Huddersfield captain Chris Thorman kicked an injury-time drop goal to give his side a 25-24 win over Bradford in Super League at the Galpharm Stadium.
In a bad-tempered first-half, Huddersfield duo Leroy Cudjoe and Ryan Hudson were both sin-binned for professional fouls.
And the Bulls capitalised on their numerical advantage by leading 16-12 at the break thanks to tries from Michael Platt, Terry Newton, and Andy Lynch.
The Giants kept themselves in the game through tries from Rod Jensen and Paul Jackson.
Bradford extended their lead with Simon Finnigan crashing over but the home side hit back with tries from Thorman and Jensen. Iestyn Harris then kicked over a penalty on 79 minutes to level the scores before Thorman's heroics.
The win for the Giants moves them into tenth place while Bradford slip to sixth position.
Elsewhere, wing Kevin Penny bagged a hat-trick as Warrington crushed Wakefield 60-24 at the Halliwell-Jones stadium.
The Wolves touched down 11 times to boost Jimmy Lowes' bid to be appointed permanent coach.
Matt King, Jon Clarke, Chris Riley, Michael Monaghan, Simon Grix and Penny crossed the line in the first half to give the hosts a 34-18 lead at the break.
King, Martin Gleeson and Riley all touched down after the break with Penny crashing over twice to complete his hat-trick while Chris Hicks kicked eight goals.
The win for the Wolves moves them into fifth place while the Wildcats stay in seventh spot.
Elsewhere, Catalan Dragons' title hopes were boosted by a 30-18 win over Hull at the KC Stadium.
The French side scored tries through Olivier Elima, Justin Murphy, Jamal Fakir, Gregory Mounis and Clint Greenshields.
Mick Potter's men are now just a point behind joint leaders Leeds and St Helens after clinching their seventh straight away win.
