Centre Kevin Henderson has agreed a two-year deal to stay with Wakefield Wildcats until at least the end of the 2011 season.
The 28-year-old Scottish international has been with the Wildcats since 2005 when he joined from Leigh Centurions, having previously played for Newcastle Knights and South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Speaking on his new contract, which comes shortly after the Wildcats were knocked out of the Super League playoffs by Catalans Dragons on Saturday, Henderson said: "The plan is to improve year on year and we were top six this year so we want to make the top four next year.
"We've got a good bunch of boys and I enjoy the coaching so it makes you want to stay and I'm glad I'll be here for another couple of years."
After 20 appearances in Super League 2009, Henderson has now played 74 times for Wakefield and won the Wakefield Express best and fairest player of the year award at the club's annual awards dinner.
And Wakefield head coach and director of football John Kear said Henderson "is the sort of player every team needs".
"He puts his hand up to the dirty work time and time again and he does it very well," Kear explained.
"He is one of the players that have been here through our improvement over the past few years and I think he can contribute to that continuing next season and beyond."
Henderson is joined in the Wildcats squad for 2010 by a host of new signings including Glenn Morrison, Terry Newton, Daryl Millard, Shane Tronc and Ben Jeffries.
