Huddersfield Giants have announced the signing of Scott Grix on a two-year contract from Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
The 25-year-old full-back, who captained Ireland at last year's Rugby League World Cup, has joined the Challenge Cup runners-up after just one season at Belle Vue.
Commenting on the move, Grix said he is "really excited" to be moving to the Galpharm Stadium and hopes the Giants can build on last season's promising league performances.
"I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into pre-season training already and have great motivation to kick on for next year," he said.
"If you look at the way Huddersfield have gone this year, it's clear that each player has improved playing under [head coach] Nathan Brown, and I want to make sure my game goes the same way.
"I'm at the stage in my career where I need to be rising to the next level, and coming to Huddersfield I think I've found the right place to do that."
Brown said he hopes the addition of Grix will help his side improve after coming so close to silverware in the Challenge Cup and finishing third in Super League to qualify for the playoffs.
"Scott gives the squad a more rounded and deeper look to it," Brown said.
"I watched him in the World Cup and last season and I like his enthusiasm and desire and from meeting him he really wants to continue to improve his game which hopefully in our environment he can do."
Brown also alluded to Grix's versatility to play in several positions as a reason he looked to sign the player.
"If you look back at the positions he has played and how well he has handled them it makes you keep an open mind about which he is best suited to," the coach continued.
"What we want is a squad where there is genuine competition for places throughout so to have a guy who has played 1, 6, 7, 9 and 13 in the past will be great for us."
Grix joins Huddersfield with a wealth of experience at different levels of the sport - having previously played for Leigh Centurions, Widnes Vikings, Warrington Wolves and Halifax in his career to date.
