Castleford's next game is against St Helens on Friday
Rock-bottom Castleford beat Hull Kingston-Rovers 18-10 in Super League at the Jungle.
The Tigers scored three tries to lead 18-0 at the break. Hull KR touched down twice in the second half but Castleford held on for their fourth win of the season.
Castleford remain bottom, two points behind Hull, while Hull KR stay in ninth position after 20 games.
Samoan forward Mark Leafa returned for the Tigers after sitting out the last 11 games with a broken arm.
With Craig Huby injuring a shoulder in training, Leafa took his place in the starting line-up.
Kirk Dixon and hooker Scott Moore, who have both missed the last two games, also returned for the Tigers.
Hull KR recalled Jon Steel in place of England winger Peter Fox, who has an infected knee.
Castleford made an explosive start with Luke Dorn, Michael Shenton and Peter Lupton crossing the line in the first half, while Kirk Dixon kicked three goals.
Mick Vella scored for the visitors at the start of the second half to reduce their deficit while Jon Steel crashed over eight minutes from time.
But Hull KR could not make up the eight-point deficit in the dying minutes, meaning they are without a win in six games and only have the slightest chance of making the top six.
