Justin Rose remains the favourite to play in the Ryder Cup next month at Valhalla.
Gregory Havret leads by one stroke at the halfway stage of the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles.

The Frenchman carded 71 to lie on seven-under par and stay ahead of England’s Robert Rock.

Justin Rose kept his Ryder Cup hopes alive by going round in 71 to move onto two-under along with Colin Montgomerie and Lee Westwood, one stroke ahead of Ryder Cup hopeful Darren Clarke.

Rose, who lies eighth in the Ryder Cup table, said he was confident of playing in the showdown with America on September 19th.

"Mentally I'm strong, I'm enjoying my golf and enjoying the challenge and right now it looks good for me,” the 28-year-old.

"But I'm sure the guys (behind) will keep the pressure on so there's no relaxing."

Meanwhile, veteran Montgomerie said his experience should see him make his ninth Ryder Cup appearance.

"I have to show form to have any chance. If I win I have a sporting chance but I don't necessarily have to win," the Scot said.

Another player looking to grab the wildcard spot for the European team is Soren Hansen, who is on four-under.

Meanwhile, Oliver Wilson stays in the race after a stunning comeback. The Englishman, who was six over par with 10 holes to play, grabbed an eagle and two birdies to survive the halfway cut.
