Usain Bolt holds the 100-metres world record at 9.69 seconds.
Triple-Olympic champion Usain Bolt continued his dominance with victory in the 100-metres in the Golden League meeting in Zurich.
The sprint sensation clocked 9.83 seconds, 0.16 seconds clear of America's Walter Dix in his first race since his success in Beijing.
After taking silver behind Bolt at the Olympics, Trinidad & Tobago's Richard Thompson took third place in the meeting in Weltklasse.
Despite a sluggish start, the Jamaican recovered to finish comfortably ahead of his rivals.
The 22-year-old, who set world records in the 100 metres, 200 metres and 4x100 metres relay in Beijing, said he was focused on the result rather than his performance.
"It was good, but my start was not too good," Bolt said.
"I concentrated on winning and as I'm starting to get a cold I was not able to think about any faster time."
Elsewhere, Olympic gold medalist Pamela Jelimo continued her fairytale season with victory in the womens 800-metres.
The Kenyan teenager ran in one minute 54.01 seconds, the fastest time this year. The 18-year-old also kept her hopes alive of winning a share of the Golden Leagues $1 million jackpot, awarded to athletes who win at all six of the season's meetings.
With one meeting left in Brussels, Jelimo faces competition for the main prize from Croatian high jumper Blanka Vlasic.
