Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher is tipping Brawn GP's Jenson Button to clinch the title.
Button began the season in remarkable fashion, taking six of the first seven chequered flags but since then his title charge has faltered with just one podium place in the six races since.
He goes into the race in Singapore this weekend 14 points ahead of team-mate Rubens Barrichello and 26.5 points ahead of the Red Bull duo of Sebastien Vettel and Mark Webber. And with only four races left, Schumacher believes the title is in Button's hands.
"Looking at the situation, I would pretty much expect Jenson to win this title," he said.
"It's very hard to take it away from him, particularly knowing the problems and reliability issues they have had at Red Bull.
"It's going to be a challenge, but the points difference is usually too big."
