Two of Liverpool's top first-team players could be on the move this summer, with Real Madrid their proposed destination.
Midfielder Xabi Alonso is due to discuss a prospective move with manager Rafael Benitez in the wake of interest from big-spending Real, who have already splashed out on Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka.
Reds defender Alvaro Arbeloa looks more likely to leave Anfield though with a £5 million switch on the table.
Elsewhere, Chelsea are set to clinch a triple signing to begin their summer spending with CSKA Moscow utility man Yuri Zhirkov, Manchester City forward Daniel Sturridge and Middlesbrough goalkeeper Ross Turnbull all heading to Stamford Bridge.
Aston Villa are preparing to lodge a £5 million for Espanyol forward Luis Garcia.
And Brazil defender Maicon appears to be edging closer to a move to Manchester City, Real Madrid or Chelsea after Inter Milan turned down his demand for a new contract.
