Barcelona have agreed a deal with Arsenal to sign Cesc Fabregas next season for £30 million.

According to the latest tabloid tittle-tattle, the Spanish international midfielder will move back to Camp Nou next season - ending the long-running saga over the man that left the Catalan giants for London as an untested teenager.

Rafa Benitez is interested in bringing Rafael van der Vaart to Anfield. However, with the asking price at £10 million for the Real Madrid midfielder, the deal seems unlikely as Benitez has already exhausted his transfer budget.

Aston Villa will try to lure Matthew Upson from West Ham with a bid of £12 million.

Sylvain Distin also looks to be on his way to Aston Villa from cash-strapped Portsmouth.

Meanwhile Villa boss Martin O'Neill is fuming after computer hackers posted the details of Villa full-back Luke Young on the player profiles section of the Hull City website.

Bordeaux have given West Ham until Monday to raise the £7.5 million needed to seal the signature of striker Marouane Chamakh.

Gary Megson is prepared to table a bid of £2.5 million to bring Leeds United's star striker Jermaine Beckford to the Reebok.

Portsmouth are ready to offer David Nugent for Gavin McCann and Danny Shittu as they cannot meet Bolton's £3 million asking price.

David Moyes is resigned to losing Joleon Lescott and will sign Robert Huth from Middlesbrough as a replacement.

Blackburn will look to sign Ivory Coast defender Steve Gohouri if they have to sell Chris Samba.

And the Premier League have confirmed that the transfer window will close on September 1st due to August 31st falling on a bank holiday this year.
