The Kaka transfer saga has taken another twist as Real Madrid have reportedly launched a counter bid.
The Spanish giants have pursued the Brazilian for a number of years but AC Milan were always unwilling to sell to a Champions League rival.
Real are ready to match the transfer fee proposed by City but would not be able to offer the same £500,000-a-week wages.
Good news for City is that they are expected to sign Craig Bellamy from West Ham for between £12 and £14 million after the striker walked out on the Hammers.
Manager Gianfranco Zola has said he does not want Bellamy at the club if he is not committed, while other sources at the Hammers say they are willing to sell to anyone but Spurs.
If AC Milan do manage to sell Kaka they are planning to use some of that money on summer target Emmanuel Adebayor and Arsenal team-mate Gael Clichy - moves that could cost a total of £40 million.
The Gunners may have to accept that offer to balance their books as Zenit St Petersburg have demanded £17 million for Andrei Arshavin.
Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari is ready to let Didier Drogba leave Stamford Bridge as the pair do not get along. All Scolari wants is the right fee for the striker - expect Didier and Jose to be exchanging early Valentine's Day cards in order to speed up the departure.
While still in pursuit of Javier Saviola from Real Madrid Tony Adams' quest to add players who were really good five years ago is gathering pace with reports linking him to former team-mate Patrick Vieira.
I suppose he already has Sol Campbell at Pompey - maybe Lee Dixon will secure an unexpected loan deal from the Football Focus sofa until the end of the season!
