Today's hot-off-the-press transfer rumours. Some spot on. A few still in the balance. Others best taken with the proverbial pinch of salt.
Newcastle are hoping their well-documented defensive woes could become a thing of the past if they prove successful in their bid for Curtis Davies.
West Brom are unwilling to let their captain go midway through a Premiership promotion campaign, but may find £9 million difficult to turn down with ten days remaining in the transfer window.
However, Glenn Roeder wants to use comedy centre-back Titus Bramble as a makeweight in any deal, a prospect which unsurprisingly does not have pulses racing at the Hawthorns.
If the West Brom skipper is the Championship's highest-profile centre-back then Southampton's Gareth Bale is undoubtedly the most in-demand full-back.
The Wales starlet has attracted the interest of a host of Premiership clubs after a sensational start to his fledgling career and Manchester United are thought to have tabled a £10 million bid for the 17-year-old.
It would be tough luck on Saints manager George Burley, who this time last year lost England striker Theo Walcott to Arsenal.
Another left-back on the move is Liverpool's Stephen Warnock, with Blackburn Rovers hopeful of concluding the transfer today.
The Englishman had originally been part of a deal involving Lucas Neill heading to Liverpool, but the Australian has since had his head turned by West Ham owner Eggert Magnusson's millions.
Elsewhere in the Premiership, Aston Villa's expected £9.5 million signing of Ashley Young has hastened the departure of Milan Baros, who is heading for a reunion with former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier at Lyon.
Walter Smith wants to continue his rebuilding job at Rangers by signing veteran Middlesbrough centre-back Ugo Ehiogu and Wigan are aiming to halt their alarming slump in form by bringing in Fulham midfielder Papa Bouba Diop and South Korean international winger Lee Chun-soo.
