There is a little more than two weeks to go before the January transfer window closes, and several teams are now stepping up their search for fresh faces.
Tottenham Hotspur boss Juande Ramos is hoping to kill two birds with one stone by using unwanted goalkeeper Paul Robinson as collateral in a deal for Middlesbrough winger Stewart Downing.
Spurs have been told Downing will not be allowed to leave for anything less than £10 million, but that price tag could drop if England international Robinson is part of the deal.
Another player who may be joining Ramos' squad at White Hart Lane is Brazilian striker Fred.
Paris Saint Germain have accepted a £9 million offer from Spurs and the player is currently considering their offer.
A number of clubs, including Fulham, Sunderland and Reading are chasing Blackburn Rovers' £3 million-rated striker Jason Roberts, who is still unsettled at Ewood Park despite his last-minute heroics against Bolton at the weekend.
And in a bid to pip their rivals to Roberts' signature, Reading may use fellow wantaway forward Leroy Lita as a makeweight, having received no offers for him during the month so far.
Bolton Wanderers are set to use a portion of the £15 million they received for Nicolas Anelka from Chelsea to sign Klaas-Jan Huntelaar from Ajax.
However the Dutch marksman is a wanted man in the Premier League, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle United all tracking his availability.
And finally, Liverpool striker Peter Crouch could be set for talks with former club Aston Villa about a possible loan deal to take him back to Villa Park.
If Villans boss Martin O'Neill is unable to persuade him that the move is in his best interests, Tottenham's Jermain Defoe could be another target for the Ulsterman before the month is out.
