Speculation over the future of Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson continues to dominate transfer gossip this weekend.
His conspicuous presence on the bench during yesterday's game against Chelsea fuelled wantaway rumours which Spurs chairman Daniel Levy appeared to be encouraging today.
Today's choice replacement for Robinson is Ajax's Maarten Stekelenburg for a reported £7 million.
Further north, Sven-Goran Eriksson appears interested in another Ajax player, Klaas Jan Huntelaar, but might have to stump up the £12 million Sir Alex Ferguson is apparently prepared to offer for him.
Sven's other interest, in Marseille striker Djibril Cisse, faces even stiffer competition with West Ham, Blackburn and Fulham reportedly interested.
Martin O'Neill is having a busy transfer window. As well as pushing for Valencia defender Miguel, Swedish striker Henrik Larsson is a transfer target on a three-month loan deal.
Defender Martin Laursen is also reportedly in negotiations as O'Neill seeks to persuade him to remain at Villa Park.
Elsewhere, Rangers striker Daniel Cousin is attracting attention from Wigan, Portsmouth and Fulham.
Striker Udo Nwoko of Portuguese side Leixoes is still a potential target for Reading.
And, to finish on a managerial report, ex-Toon boss Graham Souness has admitted he is pining for St James' Park and would jump at the chance to replace Sam Allardyce.
A shame Harry Redknapp didn't have a similar attitude.
