Sven-Goran Eriksson has revealed he is still in the market for players, and has said that strikers remain a priority for Manchester City.
The latest target for the Eastlands club is reportedly Bolton striker Nicolas Anelka, who has repeated his wish to jump off a sinking ship at the Reebok Stadium.
West Brom are keen to sell veteran striker John Hartson, who wants to return to his Welsh homeland. Swansea City are believed to have made an offer for the player.
Chelsea have increased their offer for Sevilla defender Daniel Alves to £23 million in the hope that the Spanish club will finally relent to allowing the player to discuss terms with the Blues.
The Brazilian has expressed a preference for west London but has refused to rule out signing for Real Madrid - who are prepared to meet Sevilla's valuation - if he is not allowed to negotiate with the Blues.
Argentinean international Juan Roman Riquelme has turned down the chance to join Tottenham as he is holding out for a permanent move to Boca Juniors.
