Gary Cahill has completed his move to Chelsea for a fee of around £7 million.

The centre-half joins the London club from Bolton Wanderers after successfully completing a medical on Saturday (January 14th), before attending the Blues' 1-0 Premier League win over Sunderland at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to BBC Sport, the 26-year-old said that it was an opportunity he couldn't turn down, describing Chelsea as "a massive club".

Cahill also thanked his former employers, saying he has "had a great four years at the football club" which has seen him break into the England squad. He reserved special praise for the fans.

It is also speculated that Chelsea's Brazilian defender Alex is set to leave the club after a fee had been discussed with fellow London side Queens Park Rangers.

Chelsea are currently fourth in the Premier League, 11 points behind leaders Manchester City.
