Roberto Martinez's proposed move to Wigan has been delayed after a problem arose regarding the current Swansea manager's backroom staff.
Wigan had agreed a deal to bring Martinez to the JJB Stadium and had agreed to pay Swansea compensation in the region of £1-2 million for the Spaniard.
A press conference had been setup for the unveiling of Martinez, but that couldn't take place as Swansea claimed a compensation package had not been agreed for the backroom staff that Martinez would be taking with him from the Welsh side.
"We have an agreement with Roberto verbally but he cannot sign at the moment to be our manager until Swansea sign the agreement between the two clubs," said Wigan chief executive Brenda Spencer.
"It's obviously frustrating because at no time over the last week have Swansea ever mentioned to us anything about (compensation for) the backroom staff.
"Roberto's very, very disappointed. He knows Swansea didn't want him to go but it's just unfortunate the way it's happened."
Wigan will now have to wait until next week to unveil Martinez as they have been unable to get in contact with Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins to sort out compensation for Martinez's assistant Graeme Jones and chief scout Kevin Reeves.
