Dimitar Berbatov spoke of his relief after Manchester United beat Blackburn 2-0 at Old Trafford.
The champions were looking to bounce back after their defeat at Liverpool last week and looked to be struggling until the Bulgarian opened the scoring in the second half.
He said: "In the first half, I had a couple of chances to score - you need to be patient and when another chance comes, you need to score it.
"It is always difficult to play against Blackburn, but always when you score a goal you are relieved because you feel that you have done something special."
Wayne Rooney doubled United's lead in the closing minutes, and despite a stuttering performance from Sir Alex Ferguson's team, Berbatov believes the result was the most important thing.
"I was glad that I scored, and Wayne Rooney scored another one and it was finished for Blackburn," he said.
"As long as we keep on winning I think everyone will be happy."
Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce praised his side's defending but was disappointed his team didn't ask more questions of United's patched up defence.
"We defended very, very well indeed and limited Manchester United to not too many clear-cut chances. The two goals they scored were superb finishes from two class players," he said.
"My only disappointment is we didn't challenge United in their goal enough today, where they have been a bit shaky in the past."
