Manchester City close to signing Vincent Kompany after agreeing fee for defender with Hamburg
Manchester City are on the verge of signing Vincent Kompany after agreeing a fee for the Belgian defender with his club Hamburg.
The Bundesliga outfit announced on their website a deal had been struck between the two clubs but City are yet to comment.
The signing of Kompany, 22, would represent a major coup for new Eastlands boss Mark Hughes.
Since leaving Anderlecht for Hamburg in 2006 the centre-back has attracted the interest of some of Europe's leading lights.
City have already signed Brazilian striker Jo from CSKA Moscow for a club record fee of £18 million, while Tal Ben Haim arrived from
Chelsea for an undisclosed fee.
