Everton punished Phil Brown for putting out a weakened Hull City side at the KC Stadium as they bagged four goals without reply to advance to the fourth round of the Carling Cup.
Yakubu latched on to a Diniyar Bilyaletdinov ball and curled in a shot to put Everton in front on 11 minutes, before the latter set up on loan Manchester City striker Jo to make it 2-0 after 20 minutes.
Dan Gosling added a third in the 24th minute, powering in a shot past the helpless Matt Duke, before Leon Osman wrapped up the game - tapping in the fourth after Johnny Heitinga's free-kick rebounded off the wall.
There were also wins for Aston Villa and Chelsea who both claimed 1-0 home victories against Cardiff City and Queens Park Rangers, respectively.
Villa sealed their place in the fourth round as early as the third minute, when Gabriel Agbonlahor neatly back-heeled the ball into the net.
Chelsea protected their 100 per cent record this season, by seeing off a resilient QPR in the west London derby.
A 52nd-minute Soloman Kalou effort was enough to seal the victory, although the Blues made the pre-match headlines by giving a debut to £18 million summer signing Yuri Zhirkov and naming Joe Cole in the starting XI for his first match in nine months.
