Courtney Love has reportedly lost temporary legal control of Frances Bean, her teenage daughter with late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain.
Court documents published by gossip sites TMZ.com and E! Online state that 17-year-old Frances Bean has been placed in the custody of Wendy O'Connor, Kurt Cobain's mom, and Kimberly Dawn Cobain, Kurt's sister.
The pair are to provide "temporary care, maintenance and support" for Frances Bean according to court documents and there will be a general hearing over the issue on February 10th next year.
The guardianship was granted at the Los Angeles superior court on Friday, with Love not present in court.
No reason for the temporary guardianship order has been given and the court's apparent ruling does not give Wendy O'Connor or Kimberley Cobain access to Frances Bean's trust fund.
Geraldine Wyle, a lawyer for Frances Bean and the two guardians, told People only: "This is a private family matter."
TMZ reported that the guardianship order was established after a "fairly long period of unstable conduct" on the part of Love.
The same site has since quoted Love's friend and lawyer Keith Fink as saying: "Courtney wants to say she loves her daughter and she's the most important thing in her life."
