The markets in London ended trade slightly up on Tuesday with British Airways (BA) leading the blue-chip gainers.
The FTSE was up 0.49 per cent when the markets closed, 26.58 points higher to 5,620.43.
Banks rallied on Tuesday, with Barclays PLC closing up 2.54 per cent, while Royal Bank of Scotland Group added 1.29 per cent.
BA ended the day leading the FTSE 100 gainers, adding 4.5 per cent, despite planned cabin crew strikes planned for the end of the week.
G4S was the largest of the blue-chip fallers on Tuesday, shedding 3.59 per cent when the markets closed, despite posting good results. Prudential also dragged on the shares index, down 1.49 per cent.
