Mikael Silvestre has slammed his former team-mate Patrice Evra for describing the Arsenal players as "babies".
Evra said that it had been "men against babies" after Manchester United crushed Arsenal 3-1 at the Emirates last Tuesday to reach the final of the Champions League. But Silvestre thinks Evra showed a lack of respect with his comments.
The former United defender insisted that had Arsenal had all their players fit, then they would have given Evra and United more than a game.
"I think it is a lack of respect to players like Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Adebayor or Robin van Persie. They are not babies, they are over 25," Silvestre told L'Equipe.
"For sure, conceding a goal early in the game was a blow, but we have to remember that we were without William Gallas, Gael Clichy and Andrey Arshavin.
"It would have been a different story if they had been there. It is up to us to show next season that he (Evra) is wrong and that Arsenal can win silverware playing our football."
Silvestre spent nine years at Old Trafford before moving to Arsenal last summer. He has endured a difficult season at his new club which will see Arsenal go a fourth season without a trophy.
After their humiliation at the hands of United, the Gunners were thumped 4-1 in the Premier League by Chelsea yesterday.
