Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross has been named in Fabio Capello's England squad for the friendly against Egypt on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old's call-up came after he was sent off for a tackle that left Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey with a broken leg.
West Ham's Carlton Cole and Arsenal's Theo Walcott are also included while Aston Villa midfielder Stewart Downing can celebrate his first call-up in 11 months.
Leighton Baines of Everton and Villa's are also named in the friendly squad as expected, with England manager Capello in need of a new left-back after Ashley Cole's injury and Wayne Bridge's decision to withdraw from international duty.
There is, however, no place in the squad for Chelsea's Joe Cole who has not yet found full form since returning from an eight month injury.
"There are some problems for him because he is not back like the player I remember," Capello said. "We have to wait, maybe in the last two months [before the World Cup] he will improve a lot."
Capello must name England's 23-man team for the World Cup in South Africa by June 1st.
