Severe snowfall weather warning issued

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning as heavy snowfall is expected to hit parts of the UK today and tomorrow.
The south-east of England is expected to be one of the worst affected areas, with up to 20cm of snow expected to fall in some parts of Kent, Sussex, Surrey, London and East Anglia.
Weather forecasters said the snow over the next two days could become heavy at times, and was likely to cause some travel disruption on Friday.
Met Office chief forecaster, Andy Page, said: "Eastern parts of England are expected to bear the brunt of the heaviest snowfall but there could be some snow further west at times too."
Mr Page added that it is still too early to say what the weather on Christmas Day itself will be, with a battle taking place over the UK between cold air over the country and milder air trying to push up from the south.
Further snow is predicted over the weekend, particularly across the north of the UK.
Earlier this week the AA said local councils need to be better prepared for the cold weather, and increase their grit stocks to avoid travel disruption.
