Serena Williams is through to the final of the end-of-season WTA Tour Championships event in Doha after just 11 games of her semi-final with Caroline Wozniacki were completed.
With Williams leading 6-4, 1-0 Wozniacki decided to concede the match because of the abdominal injury which has hampered her progress all week.
The withdrawal means that Serena will face her elder sister, defending champion Venus, in the final.
Injuries have blighted the tournament which is open to the eight highest-ranked ladies in the world. Russia's Dinara Safina lasted less than ten minutes in her opening match before tearfully withdrawing, giving up her chance to finish the year as world number one.
Wozniacki owed her semi-final place partly to Victoria Azarenka retiring due to cramp when trailing Agnieszka Radwanska.
World number one Serena will be favourite to beat her sister in the final and has won 11 of her 21 matches with her biggest career rival.
