Another mass grave of shot army officers has been found in Bangladesh after the failure of a mutiny by a section of the army.
On Wednesday, members of the Bangladesh Rifles (BDF) held senior officers hostage as they staged a rebellion in order to improve their pay and working conditions.
Yesterday, rescuers unearthed a mass grave with the remains of 38 people. A further ten people's bodies have been removed from the second grave, which was uncovered in the corner of a garden inside the headquarters of the border guards.
The whereabouts of many other officers are yet to be ascertained.
In comments cited by the AFP news agency, the army's second in command Lieutenant General M A Mubin said the mutineers would be punished for their hand in the killing of senior officers.
He said: "The BDR troops who took part in these barbaric and grisly acts cannot be pardoned and will not be pardoned.
"They will be given exemplary and quick punishment by a special tribunal. The martyrs will be buried with state honours."
The mutiny ended on Thursday when the country's prime minister Sheikh Hasina warned of military action against the plotters of the rebellion.
The government of Bangladesh announced a three-day period of mourning on Friday in respect of those killed.
