The most environmentally-committed areas of the UK have been revealed today by the Energy Saving Trust (EST).
The organisation claims London, Lanarkshire, County Antrim and Dyfed are leading the way in energy awareness.
In England the top five areas' commitment to the environment could save £6.3 million and 44,000 tonnes of carbon, according to the EST.
This compares to savings of just £184,000 and 1,300 tonnes of carbon emissions from the least environmentally-committed areas of England.
Across the UK as a whole, Humberside, Peebleshire, West Glamorgan and County Fermanagh are said to be the least environmentally-committed areas.
The EST's listing is based on the level of commitment to save energy and reduce carbon emissions in the home.
About three-quarters of the commitments were to cut energy consumption by using low-energy lightbulbs or boiling only enough water for what is needed.
The EST estimates that if people keep the promises expressed then they could cut over £10 million off the nation's energy fuel bills.
