A 14-year-old boy has become the 19th teenager to be stabbed or shot to death in London this year after dying in hospital.
David Idowu, of Southwark, south London, died at Royal London hospital in Whitechapel today, almost three weeks after being attacked.
He was found suffering from knife wounds on Great Dover Street on the junction with Becket Street during the evening rush hour on Tuesday June 17th.
Police believe David was involved in an altercation with a group of youths on nearby Tabard Street, when he was stabbed.
Reiterating an appeal for witnesses Detective Inspector Bernie Galopin of the Metropolitan police said: "Nearly three weeks after the attack on David he has lost his life, and this will now be a murder investigation. In light of David's death our immediate thoughts are with his family and friends and getting justice for them.
"I would like to take this opportunity to appeal to anyone who has information or who witnessed the attack but have yet to contact the police to come forward."
