Michael Schumacher is sure that the new Ferrari will be able to compete with last year's runaway leading pair Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen this coming season.
The German Formula One legend said that he was delighted with the way Ferrari have adapted to the v8 engines from the v10 engines used last season.
The car has been manufactured to be much lighter and therefore, even with a smaller engine, it is very quick around the track.
Schumacher is confident that the new model will allow him to challenge Raikkonen and Alonso who were so dominant last year.
The German will go into this weekend's Bahrain grand prix with a new team mate Felipe Massa after Reubens Barrichello moved to Honda.
Schumacher said: "The consistency that we have shown during the winter demonstrates once again the reason why Ferrari is so surprising. I am certain that our 248 F1 has the potential to challenge for the title.
"We have worked very hard and we certainly have improved the game, but then it's always the question: have we improved enough?"
The Ferrari driver will enter his 15th season in Formula One, the 37-year-old has won the world championship seven times.
