Veteran Manchester United star Paul Scholes should be back in action by the end of the month.
Scholes has been out for two months after he had an operation to solve a lateral ligament injury in his knee. The 33-year-old has started running again and expects to be back playing in a few weeks.
"I've got these next few weeks to get as fit as I can, so hopefully I'll be fresh then I come back," said Scholes, who suffered the injury in the Champions League game against Dynamo Kiev in October.
"It's a couple of months since the operation now and everything seems to be okay. I'm on track to return at the end of January or the start of February."
Scholes' injury has led to the emergence of young Brazilian playmaker Anderson, who has helped United qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League and second in the Premier League.
But although Scholes admits he is happy to see his team-mates doing well, he doesn't always enjoy watching them play.
He said: "It's been frustrating for me. I still see all the games but it does get a bit boring just watching because all you want is to be out there playing.
"But I know that I have to be patient and hopefully I'll be back playing soon."
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has an abundance of riches in the midfield department, but he will still be looking forward to having Scholes back, a man who has been a first team regular for 13 years.
