West Indies all-rounder Darren Sammy is a doubt for the fourth Test at Durham which begins on Friday due to a groin strain he picked up during the third Test.
Sammy sustained the injury while batting to win the game on the fifth morning of the game and was treated for the injury on the field.
But the 23-year-old, who carried on playing without a runner at the time, now looks to have injured his groin more than initially suspected.
West Indies coach David Moore remains optimistic that Sammy would be able to take part in the game at the Riverside and will delay his squad announcement until tomorrow.
He said: "Sammy has not been ruled out of the fourth Test in Durham and will continue to receive treatment and a decision on his availability will be made on Thursday afternoon."
Sammy took 7-66 in the second innings of the game at Old Trafford in what was his first Test match appearance for his country.
He also faced 60 balls in the second inning in a 37-run partnership with Shivnarine Chanderpaul.
Moore added: "It would be disappointing after he had such a good role in his first Test match.
"It will leave a bit of a gap after what he has done for us - but I am very hopeful he will play."
