Blackburn Rovers defender Chris Samba has signed a new five-year contract to stay with the Lancashire club until at least 2014.
The imposing 25-year-old, who moved to Ewood Park from German side Hertha Berlin in January 2007 for £400,000, has been a near ever-present in his two years at the club, making 109 appearances and scoring nine goals.
And club chairman John Williams said he is "delighted" with the agreement, describing it as "an important deal for the club".
"It has been richly deserved through [Chris'] performances over the past few seasons, particularly during the last campaign when he demonstrated a tremendous attitude when playing in an unfamiliar role as a striker," Williams added.
Samba is thought to have attracted interest from several other Premier League clubs since the summer of 2007, but has continually opted to stay with Rovers - earning him a new deal and a pay rise this week.
