Blackburn Rovers assistant manager Neil McDonald paid tribute to David Dunn after he inspired his team to a 2-0 win at Bolton.
With Sam Allardyce absent as he prepares for heart surgery McDonald took over duties in the dugout and singled out Dunn as the player that made the difference after he opened the scoring in the first-half.
"He's [Dunn] in good form and we're keeping him fit. He's feeling good about himself and he's scored a fantastic goal," said McDonald.
"He's come from his own box to support and that shows how fit he is. He's playing fantastic for the team in whichever position he's been asked to play which has been great."
Dunn has now got six goals this season, and the player hopes to add more in the coming months.
"I'm really pleased to get on the score sheet and that's something I needed to do. Hopefully I can get into double figures this year," said the midfielder.
The win for Blackburn ends a run of ten consecutive away defeats and moves them up to 11th in the Premier League table.
And it was a victory McDonald believes his players deserved.
"We've worked hard on the training ground over the past few weeks and they got their just rewards," he remarked.
"I think we contained them and created more chances than them in the first half and the second half. We got through them quite easily and were well worth the 2-0 victory."
