Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney believes the Premier League title race will come down to a three-way battle between the current top three teams in the league.
The England forward predicted that United, Chelsea and Liverpool will battle for silverware this season one which promises to be an exciting title race that could go down to the wire.
"You can never write Arsenal off and they are a good team and Aston Villa are doing well as well, but in the end I think it will be down to one of the top three," Rooney said.
The 23-year-old also played up United's challenge after the Red Devils edged to a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough last night thanks to a second-half strike from Dimitar Berbatov.
"I think we are in a good position. We would have liked to have played those two matches in hand but we've got them to come," Rooney said.
"If we can get some good results in those games we would be in a really good position," he added.
United are seven points adrift of league leaders Liverpool and four behind Chelsea, whom they face at home in their next league game on Sunday January 11th.
However, Sir Alex Ferguson's team still have two matches in hand on their rivals in the form of home ties against Wigan and Fulham.
Aston Villa have the chance to reclaim fourth place in the league ahead of Arsenal if they take points away from their match against Hull City at the KC Stadium tonight.
