Australian batsman Chris Rogers has agreed a deal to return to Derbyshire as captain for the 2010 English domestic campaign, it has been announced.
The 32-year-old scored almost 1,500 first-class runs in 2009, despite missing the opening three matches of the season with a Visa delay.
His average of over 73, which included six centuries and two double centuries, also made him one of the most consistent scorers in England last summer
And Derbyshire head of cricket John Morris said he is "delighted" to welcome the left-hander back into the squad as skipper for a second season.
"Chris has performed exceptionally well throughout the last two campaigns and we are delighted to be welcoming him back for another season," Morris said.
"Possessing a wonderful appetite for runs - illustrated in him scoring over 2,000 runs in all competitions in 2009 - and with an excellent professionalism in his game, Chris sets a fine example to the rest of the team and really has led the way as captain this year.
"From the captaincy point of view it is great to have continuity.
"The team responded well to Chris as captain of the team last year and I have been delighted by how committed he is to the cause and how keen he is to return to Derbyshire for another season in 2010."
In addition to his impressive County Championship scoring record, Rogers also helped himself to 723 runs in limited-overs games, including 111 not out in the televised Pro40 match against Leicestershire in mid-September.
