Junior Wimbledon champion Laura Robson has reached the quarter-finals of the LTA tournament at Welti Tennis Centre in Shropshire.
The 14-year-old British starlet was in scintillating form as she disposed of Urszula Radwanska of Poland, who is ranked 128 in the world.
In a battle of junior Wimbledon champions - Radwanska won at SW19 in 2007 - it was Robson who looked the more experienced than her 17-year-old opponent as she came through 6-3, 6-3.
It was by no means an easy match for the teenager as she had to battle for one hour 49 minutes. But it was Robson, playing her first professional tournament in her homeland, who played the big points better and kept her nerve during tight games.
"I was pleased with my performance today," said 14-year-old Robson, who is the last British woman remaining in the singles draw. "Radwanska is a tough player so I knew I had to play a good match in order to win today. I am looking forward to my quarterfinal match tomorrow."
Robson grabbed the nation's attention as she came from nowhere to lift the junior girl's Wimbledon crown. But according to Carl Maes, the head of the women's game for the Lawn Tennis Association, Robson is a much player now then a few months ago.
"Laura has made some improvements to her fitness and her return of serve since winning Wimbledon," said Maes. "She also has a strong attacking game. But she can improve her defence."
